The east side is the most popular tour in Jericoacoara. It is home to Pedra Furada (the famous rock arch), the Árvore da Preguiça ("lazy tree"), Preá Beach and Lagoa do Paraíso, with hammocks in crystal-clear water and the best-known beach clubs in the area, such as Buraco Azul and Lagun.
The tour takes the whole day, about 6 hours on average, and can be done by shared open truck (jardineira), buggy, ATV or private open truck. If you want to go further, the Far East tour reaches Lagoa Azul, Pinguela and Barrinha Beach.

Which one to choose?
- Solo or as a couple, on a budget: East Tour Shared, by open truck, R$89 per person.
- Want to pick the route and which beach clubs to enter: buggy (up to 4 people) or ATV (up to 2). The vehicle is yours, so you control time and spending.
- Family or large group: Private East Tour, for up to 11 people. From 7 people up, it costs less than the shared tour.
- Want clearer water and quieter spots: the Far East tour to Lagoa Azul, ending with sunset at Barrinha.
Best time to go
Lagoons are fullest from June to September. From August to December it is windier — kitesurf season at Preá Beach. February to May is the rainy season, usually with quick showers — and on the east side there is plenty of shelter, with many beach huts and beach clubs along the way.
Tourism fee
To enter Jericoacoara you pay the Sustainable Tourism Fee (TTS): R$41.50 per person, valid for up to 10 days. You can pay online on the city website or in person in Jijoca or at the village entrance. Paying ahead avoids queues on holidays and in high season. Exemptions set by the city (such as children up to 12, people over 60 and people with disabilities) require an ID document.
